About the Instructor

My name is Melisa (pronounced Me-Lisa) and I am currently living in the Philadelphia area with my husband and 3 children. I fell in love with American Sign Language by watching Linda on Sesame Street. Without anywhere to go to learn, I would make up signs just so I could pretend I knew how. When I got to college, I took every class they offered. I knew I wanted to find some way to make ASL a part of my daily life, but as I graduated and started working, it slipped away. After the birth of my first baby, my aunt introduced me to Signing Time. I was instantly in love! Our entire family is hooked!

When Signing Time started the Academy, I was one of the first 10 to join! I was beyond excited! In March of 2010, I was named on the Signing Time Academy Dream Team. In the summer of 2010, I was named as the Associate Director for the Central Atlantic Region. I love Signing Time, and this job has been a dream come true for me.

And now you may be wondering why I’m Signing with a Smile. “A Smile” is an anagram for Melisa. People frequently mispronounce Melisa, but it is easy to say SMILE!
